So then faith cometh by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God.
(Romans 10:17 KJV)
*Note: In June 2016
I shared the following post on spiritual nourishment. Due to a variety of factors, I am sensing that
it needs to be shared this week (with some editing).
From time
to time God’s children go through dry times or perhaps even a time that could
be defined as a “dark night of the soul”.
Truthfully, I am currently journeying through such a time. This heightens my awareness for the need to
deeply nourish my soul (beyond Sunday morning worship). Therefore, I would like to encourage you to
take the time to view one (or more of the videos) found on the right side bar
under the heading "Spiritual Nourishment".
While
Pastor Richard is not my pastor, he is a dear brother in Christ. I have found his messages to be meaningful and
nourishing. It will be worth your
time.
Please
join with me in prayer:
Dear
Lord, Open our hearts to what You have to say to us through Your Word and from
Your servants. Thank You for the Truth
that comes in reading, studying, and hearing Your Word. Stir up within us a hunger for You and Your
Word that cannot be easily satisfied. Even
in the midst of our struggles we seek You and Your face, simply desiring to
know You more fully. Thank you for those
who capably preach and teach Your Word, pointing us to Jesus. In Jesus' Name, we pray. Amen.
From My
Heart to Yours,
Kim
thank you you, Kim, for these thoughts today. Yes, I believe we do all go through "dry" times in our spiritual journey...just like our world goes through dry times of drought...and we need the rain to replenish the earth...WE need the rain of God's Holy Spirit to pour down into our hearts and refresh and replenish our burned out, dried up bones and souls. Staying close to the fountain of living water, Jesus Christ, is the only way I know to stay filled with His Spirit...by drawing from the well of His Word and the fellowship of His saints. Thank you for helping us to remember where we need to go to quench our thirst for God. Have a blessed and joy-filled day.
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome, Pam. Thank you for sharing here today. I appreciate your friendship! Yes, it's all about staying close to the fountain of living water, Jesus. I'm glad the reminder to nourish our spirits is helpful to you. May you have a blessed and joy-filled day!
DeleteBlessings!
I, too, have walked through those "dry" times, Kim. That is exactly when we need to seek the Lord with all our hearts and pray for renewing of our spirit through Him. I will try to listen to Richard's offering some time today.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Martha, I'm sure you've walked through those "dry" times, too. It seems to be part of the journey the Lord takes us on while we're on earth. I hope you're blessed by one (or more!) of Richard's sermons.
DeleteLove and Blessings!
Hi Kim! I appreciated the speakers words on Temptation Kim. Old ways can always be the way to falling, and I know that I need new ways of thinking and acting. That's the way to overcome.
ReplyDeleteDry times are tough to walk through, but I do think they prepare us for an outpouring of graces. May God gift us all with his presence and joy!

Hi Ceil! I'm glad you were encouraged by Richard's words on temptation. Yes, we can really get hurt maintaining old ways/behaviors. New ways of thinking and acting are so freeing and healing. We do indeed overcome by the blood of Jesus.
DeleteYes, dry times are challenging and are times of preparation, as you stated. Oh, for an outpouring of grace!
Have a blessed week, my friend!
