Sermon: Victory in Jesus

Jesus Cross on my wall

I am pleased to share with the readers of my blog the audio of a church service I led on July 26, 2015.  It was an amazing blessing to share what God had placed on my heart.

It is my prayer that my message will feed your faith in what God provided for us through Jesus.  Our God is so very big and powerful!  He loves us so very much.  He is still alive, living, and active today!  Jesus can change us in a variety of ways.  When we invite Jesus into our hearts, He does not leave us where He found us.  He changes us for the better.

God is amazing, wonderful, holy, powerful, mighty…He really is beyond description—beyond what our finite minds can begin to grasp.  Our words fall short of conveying all God is and how amazing, powerful, and holy He is.  God’s Word is clear, He never changes (we see that in both the Old and New Testaments).  We are the ones who change; the ones who get too smart for our own good.  Left to our own devices, we can wander into behaviors that will cause us and others harm.  Living a life with Jesus front and center and in control will take us places we never dreamed were possible.  And we will do things we never dreamed of doing.  Yes, we can experience victory Jesus each day.

Below is the description I provided for the video on YouTube, including Scriptures.

This is an audio (with still photos) that I was blessed to lead on July 26, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church--Albia, Iowa. (I'm one of several lay members who are called by the Lord to lead in worship and preach the Word of God when our pastor is away.)

Currently, I'm a lay speaker in United Methodist Church; my status is such that I can preach in my church and others when called.

Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15:55-57
                    Colossians 1:12-14; 3:1-17

May each one of us experience Victory in Jesus!

  1. Kim, it was one thing to read your sermon several weeks ago, and another thing entirely to hear you deliver it. Wow! You have such a clear, resonant voice which is, in itself, a joy to listen to, and your message was so, so powerful. Needless to say, I'm both impressed and I'm blessed by your words. May we remember each day that Jesus has given us the victory!
    Love and blessings!

    1. Martha, Thank you so much for your kind comments regarding my voice. It's God working in and through me--I couldn't do it in the flesh. God clearly has a sense of humor--thinking back to my undergrad days when I took three years of voice lessons--I took them for one reason, yet God had something entirely different in mind! :)

It was interesting to take what I crafted as a sermon and work it in to two blog posts. There were things I had to edit out.

Hmm...I'm thinking I have a face and voice for radio?! :) Planning some more sermons to share via YouTube or an audio only site in the future.

Yes, "may we remember each day that Jesus has given us the victory!"

      Love and blessings!

  2. Hi Kim! I am agreeing with Martha. It was wonderful to hear your voice, so clear and warm and full of conviction. I so agree with your point that the measure of who we are as Christians is really shown in our week, not so much our presentation at weekend services.

Christ gives us our victories, and you have one right here! I'm sure you got a lot of positive feedback from your talk. What a blessing to be used in such a public way for the Lord.
    Happy Monday!

    1. Hi Ceil! Thank you so much for your kind comments on my sermon. It was only because of the Lord's empowerment that I can preach--if only people could have seen me in high school speech class. :)

Yes, I did receive a lot of positive feedback after my sermon. It's truly a blessing to be used by the Lord in this way.

Happy Monday to you, as well. Have a great week!

      Blessings!

      Kim
