Since we are coming off of Valentine’s Day and the rather secular focus
on love, I thought it would be nice to simply read a few verses demonstrating
God’s love for us. For a complete devotional
on this topic, please see: God’s Valentine. This list of verses is not meant to be
exhaustive. Keep in mind, that even on
our worst days, God still loves us deeply and unconditionally. It is my heart’s prayer that you will
experience God’s love in your heart and around you through the reading of these
verses, as well as the whole of God’s Word.
Be blessed through the following verses.

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will
save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy
over thee with singing.
(Zephaniah 3:17 KJV)
πππ
For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his
Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might
be saved.
He that believeth on
him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because
he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
(John 3:16-18 KJV)
πππ
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and
every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not
knoweth not God; for God is love.
In this was
manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten
Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not
that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the
propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so
loved us, we ought also to love one another.
No man hath seen God
at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected
in us.
(1 John 4:7-12 KJV)

And we have known
and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in
love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Herein is our love
made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he
is, so are we in this world.
There is no fear in
love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that
feareth is not made perfect in love.
We love him, because
he first loved us.
If a man say, I love
God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother
whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
And this commandment
have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
(1 John 4:16-21 KJV)

A new commandment
I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also
love one another.
By this shall all
men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
(John 13:34-35)
πππ
If ye keep my
commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's
commandments, and abide in his love.
These things have I
spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be
full.
This is my
commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
(John 15:10-12 KJV)
πππ
Greater love hath
no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
(John 15:13 KJV)
ππππ
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:8 KJV)
πππ
Behold,
what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called
the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
(1 John 3:1 KJV)

Please join with me in
prayer:
Dear Loving Lord, Thank You
for Your love that is seen throughout Your Word. Remind us that Your Word—the Bible—is Your
love letter to us. It is when we read
Your Word with the realization of Your loving heart that we see Your love from
beginning to end. Help us to experience the
depth and height of Your love for us each day.
Nudge us to share Your love with those around us each day—many are
hurting and need to know that You love them and desire nothing more than a relationship
with them. Pour out Your love into our
open hearts each day. In Jesus’ Name, we
pray. Amen.
From My Heart to Yours,
Kim
All these Scriptures really spoke to my heart as I read them, Kim. I read a blog yesterday where the writer had been a victim of hateful commentary for an article she contributed to Fox News. Oh, to realize just how much vitriol and meanness is out there broke my heart. Reading these today were like a healing balm. We must remember always that loving God and loving others go hand in hand; they cannot be separated.

Martha, I'm happy to know all the Scriptures spoke to you and were a healing balm. That is exactly what Scripture is suppose to do, in my opinion. And yes, if we don't love others, how can we say we love God?
DeleteLove and blessings!
Hi Kim! These Scripture passages are such Good News! I love to think about God singing over me with love, it really makes me smile. WE love him because he loved us first, and that love is so pure and so joyous. I hope I can always remember that at all times in my life.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good weekend!
Blessings,
Ceil
Hi Ceil! Yes, the Scripture is truly the Good News! It's amazing, really to think about God singing over us with love that is pure--so pure that it bursts forth. My weekend was blessed.
