Daddy's Arms

Note:  Since it has been several weeks since I posted here, I thought it was time to let those who come here that I am still alive.  My time away is not being wasted (to get an idea what I have been up to, please see my previous post).  While I have more to study on the Holy Spirit than I should at this point; time is not being wasted as I work towards less clutter and better organization (there may be a post or series on this in the works).

Now for this week’s post:

What I am sharing below the Scriptures is quite a departure from my normal writing style—my thoughts are that it is Holy Spirit inspired.  During my early morning prayer time on September 19, 2017, the first few lines came to mind and would not go—I knew I had to sit down and write.  As I wrote more and more came to me, that is why I believe it is inspired.  During the process of typing my handwritten words, I did a bit of editing and adding of words.  My prayer is that what I wrote from my heart will touch the hearts of others who read it.

My own daddy passed away before I was a year old and my mom did not remarry, therefore, I have struggled at times with the idea of a father or a daddy.  In the last few years, I have learned a bit through observation, talking with others, and from my own experiences with my spiritual dad.

  • For those of you who had a close relationship with your earthly dad what did you experience with him that helps you understand our Heavenly Daddy’s role in our lives?

  • For those of you who did not have a close relationship with your earthly dad or perhaps like me did not have a dad to provide love, direction, support, and encouragement how do you find that experience in our Heavenly Daddy?

Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
 (Psalm 10:14 KJV)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  ….  The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah (Psalm 46:1, 11 KJV)

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.  From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  (Psalm 61:1-2 KJV)

A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.(Psalm 68:5 KJV)

Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
(Psalm 103:13 KJV)

The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
(Psalm 146:9 KJV)

Daddy’s Arms
Strong—safe and secure
Daddy’s Arms
Safe—protector from the world
Daddy’s Arms
Love—assured
Daddy’s Arms
Warrior—defender
Daddy’s Arms
Provider—care
Daddy’s Arms
No need to fear
Daddy’s Arms
Always there—no abandonment
Daddy’s Arms
Daddy’s Arms
A safe, secure sanctuary to run to when the world goes crazy, out of control
Daddy’s Arms
Run to Daddy—find love worth the wait, the longing
Daddy’s Arms
What are you waiting for?
Daddy’s Arms
What are you waiting for?
Daddy’s Arms
Run into Daddy’s Arms and find pure love—unconditional—Daddy’s Arms
In Daddy’s Arms you’ll find what your heart and soul have longed for
Daddy’s Arms
Daddy’s Arms love indefinable expressed in intangible ways, only in Daddy’s Arms do we find true love, acceptance and protection.  Daddy’s Arms
What are you waiting for?
Run, run into Daddy’s Arms
He’s waiting for you—His arms are wide open, welcoming, beckoning—“Come home, dear one, come home, you are wanted, welcome, and loved.”
Daddy’s Arms
Daddy’s Arms

I encourage you to listen to this song by Sanctus Real, Safe in the Father’s Arms

Please join with me in prayer:

Dear Abba, Father, thank You for being the best example of who a daddy should be and the characteristics he should exhibit.  We know our earthly daddies are frail human beings who many times fail to provide what we need as their children.  Help us to not apply what our earthly dads did or failed to do and thus negatively impact how we see You.  You are the only one who is completely trustworthy—we can run to You and find a love that is beyond all description.  Provide comfort to those who deeply desperately need the comfort only a daddy can give—letting them experience that love so deep, so indescribable, that it is truly beyond words.  Supply us with the necessary words to share with others Your love, and to encourage them to run to their Daddy to find what their hearts are longing for.  In Jesus’ Name we pray.  Amen.

From My Heart to Yours,

Kim

  2. Sweet Kim, I love this so much. I love what you wrote about "Daddy's Arms"...that is so powerful and true regarding our Heavenly Father, Abba Father. He is the only true "Daddy" that we can totally rely on no matter what. Our earthly fathers may be good, kind, and loving...or they may be the opposite of that...but our Heavenly Father will never leave us nor forsake us...He will never fail us...and He is only a prayer away. This was so touching, especially knowing that you did not have the joy of knowing your earthly father. I know there will be a great reunion someday between you and your Dad in heaven...and your Heavenly Father will be right there cheering you on and giving you all a big "group hug". What a day that will be!!! This was so touching. Thank you, Kim. You are a blessing.

  3. Hi Kim! I think your trouble in thinking about God as a father is one that a lot of people struggle with. As you said in your ending prayer, our earthly fathers are very human, they are wonderful, with a mix of the human frailty in there too.

I know my dad really loved me, and he was a very smart man. He wasn't very huggy or anything, but I knew his family meant everything to him. In that way, he does mirror God. God's family means everything to him too. He did everything for us, including save us. And of course, God is very smart!
I hope you can work through your feelings to connect with God in a fatherly role. I have every faith that if you want it, God will give it.
    Blessings on your important journey,
    Ceil

    1. Hi Ceil! Thank you for stopping by and for sharing your thoughts. Yes, I know that many people struggle to see God as a loving daddy/father for a variety of reasons. My thoughts are that what I've shared here do reflect a trust in God--so now to get my heart and mind to meet, so I can truly experience God as daddy. I know that I've grown quite a bit in this area, and still have a lot of room to grow.

      Blessings,

      Kim

  4. Oh Daddy's Arms...beautiful poem and song. I had a father but he was a drunk and a mean drunk at that. I felt no love for him, yet God wanted me to be a part of his salvation. He got saved the night before he died, and like the thief on the cross he is now in heaven. I did not love him here on earth but I know I will when I see him. Thanks for such a lovely post.

    1. Betty, thank you so much for stopping by and for your thoughtful comments. I'm so very sorry to hear about your earthly father, yet thankful that he said yes to Jesus before it was too late. I'm thankful and humbled at how this post is touching others--it sometimes is good to step out of comfort zones. May you experience our Daddy's arms wrapped around you today and everyday.

      Blessings!
